president of one of the larger locals ran down some interesting tid-bits about union contracts several years ago during a conversation when some strikes were popping up (no names were given). He stated that several "no bydlos" and several "no brandenburg No. 2s" among other clauses existed. The most interesting item was that it wasn't necessarily the player that put some of these in the contracts and it also wasn't just brass players who were involved in accommodations.
I'm sure Mr. Pokorny has no such clause. That guy is a monster. Yep, a monster with great style and taste. He also has a terrific colleague in Mr. Mulcahy, who happens to be specialist in tenor tuba among other things.
I wished I lived nearer to Chicago. Season tickets to the Symphony, Lyric Opera (Mark Fischer, now there's a euph player!), and the Cubs is where all my money would go!
