I think that's what i meant. :) I think the Nirschl is probably better finished/made/whatever than the Besson, but even though it sold for a lot more new than the Bessons do now, it's certainly NOT worth MORE than a new Besson. So, the price of a new Besson or less. Kinda like arguing MW2000 vs 2155 (heh heh heh) except not.

When i'm interested in a "used" but close to new instrument, i use this general formula.

(price of new stuff including cases)*.85 then subtract my guestimate of the cost of repairs it might need INCLUDING lacquer / silver touch up.


If a horn needs tons of repairs, it's darn near worthless to anybody who's not a repairman, IMHO.
