So I'm sitting here listening to the NY Phil recording of Mahler 5 with Mehta, and last night I listened to their recording of the Pictures, and wow. He has the most incredible orchestral sound I've ever heard. He's always there, never drowned out by anything, but he's always musical about it. Just a fantastic player.
