I'm so glad the previous owner had the rotors redone by Ron Partch before I bought it.
I checked the tone of the thing for the first time with a piano the other day, it's almost unbelievable. No slide adjustments needed, the thing just plays in tune with the slides all resting snugly at home.
I think mine looks a bit better than that one at Dillons, but it's seen a lot of years and you can tell. Still, the valves are smooth and it plays in tune. I couldn't be happier with it.
All this to encourage you Jordan, try to get some history of the instruments you look at, see if they have had any major work done like professional valve lapping etc.
Of course play test anything before buying if possible, you should be able to get something very good for that kind of money if you are patient.
