Here's a solution for the person then:
Purchase all of the parts (new) for a "regular" Conn bass trombone slide, and have a dern-good technician build the slide simply without soldering the (approx. 4") nickel-silver sleeves on to the outside slide tubes. The same tech. should be able to add an extra cross brace (' could even imitate the original 6XH brace with a curve in it.) and a stop rod assembly to all of this.
Generally, if these ancient slides are not being used, they have long ago been trashed.
