On my old piston valve Euph with loose valves, I use sewing maching oil.
In cold weather when tight valves get sluggish, I use Ultra-Pure unscented lamp oil from K-mart or Wal-Mart (kersonse). For a general purpose valve oil, I've been satisfied with Al Cass.

There is also some concern about mixing petroleum based oils with synthetic ones - the mixture seems to cause problems for some people. For slide grease, I like Selmer's 'red goo'.
