I would add: the volume depends on the player ! I've frequently been told by trombone sections and even string players that they're astounded that so much sound can come out of such a small form factor tuba. True, though that a PT- 3's sound will breakup before a PT-6 but my point is that the carbon based unit behind the mouthpiece has a lot to do with the final product!
