I played a CC 186 5 valve for 25 years and now only play in a church orchestra(45)and a large semi pro community Symphonic Band(70 to 85) and I play BBb again and love it and have since 95 now.

I love the warmth of the sound, the way it blends and the richness of the color with the other brass, strong and loud and felt and you know its there but not heard as a soloist. It's very nice.

I honestly like the BBb for upper register and find it easier to play higher than CC tubas. The CC's only advantage to me is the ease of playing in the pedal register. The BBbs are a bit tighter but can be done.

With the quality of the BBb's coming to the same quality as CC's in the last 7 years, I see no reason to play a CC unless you just want to or your college professor makes you change.

Tubas are tubas,,, who cares what key you play.

Find one, buy one and have fun making music.
