The Fafner is a Meinl-Weston, so you can order it at any of their authorized dealers. I'm not sure who's stocking it, so you'll have to call around if you want to play one. Dillon's is probably a good place to start.

It's been a very long time since I've played either a 186 or a MW 25, so perhaps others could give you better info on that comparison.

The Fafner has a very focused, directional kind of sound, sort of like a spot light. Other's have described it as a "solo" sound. I think it would be much easier to tell where the tuba player is sitting with the Fafner than, say, the 186.

Very fast response. Quick valves. It radiates (vibrates) noticably when you punch some air through it. And, it can really put out some volume. It's a very good horn, and I'd recomend that anybody in the market for a BBb should play test one if possible.

Wish I could be of more help.
