There was a very fine player with that name who played in the Memphis area in the Millington Naval Station band.
He went through a Miraphone 186 - a MW 2155 - a Holton CC - and finally a Conn (King) 56J.
He also played a Navy-owned Willson EEb. (For obvious Ericksonian reasons, the Navy owns a lot of those.)
He auditioned for another service band, decided that he had been doing enough tuba-for-a-living-stuff, and decided to get training in some top-secret (I think) stuff...still in the Navy.
