Not so!! the old McClellan 3/4 Eb 3 valve that I bought from Lee Stofer has Monster false tones...they are more secure than the tones just above; they resonate!! Mark Nelson played it and said it had the best low range of any Eb tuba he had played. So good false tones may be rare, but they do exist.
