I had both a Yamaha 641 and Besson 3 valve recording (compensating) tuba at the same time. No contest (for me), the Yamaha is head and shoulders above the Besson in tone and sound quality. I sold the Besson and now use the Yamaha as my primary horn.
I would encourage you to decide after playing as many as you can. Don't take my advice.
