I agree. I have owned a Rudy 3/4, a 186, and a 188. Rudy's best - no contest. I have played the Rudy in band and orchestra settings, and I can confirm that it has a huge sound. Not as beautiful up close as it is out in the hall. Don't let the size fool you. That core sound and projection make the difference. You can push the Rudy as hard as you can and it won't get that edge like the 186 will. Maybe that's a player problem, but it sure is funny how Mirafones have that reputation and others, like the Rudy, do not. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
