I've placed one of those wonderful Reynolds CONTEMPORA big recording bass BBb tubas on an auction. The instrument is similar to the King "Symphony Bass", but the Reynolds body and bell are a little larger. The FOUR pistons are front-action, which is nice, and the bell flair is BIG - 23". Though it doesn't look brand new, we've removed nearly every dent ("bow-off / cap-off" overhaul) and refinished a lot of areas (including the bell interior for a very handsome appearance - without having to jack up the opening bid into the stratosphere.
"Goodies" include top-accessable #1 and #3 slides with pull rings (factory) and one of those spring-return gadgets on the upper #1 slide - assisted by a vented #1 piston. Of course, a tuba like this is cheaper to ship because it can be sent in two U.P.S.-able cartons.
