Hi , a very good friend of mine played a big Martin just like the one your telling about in the U.S. Navy Band. back in the late 50`s early 60`s. he was the 1st tuba , at that time . he had told me all about those tubas , he said they were wonderful playing horns too . in fact Marty Erikson was his 2nd tuba , at that time.as my friend told me , there was only like a dozen or so of these ever made by Martin , then the manderels and all were junked . as he has told me many times , " the horn could move way faster then you could ever play for its size , when in top playing condition of course" . i hope you enjoy playing it ! best of luck to you too !
