I have a Fostex CD Recorder and it has every kind of input imaginable, including two kinds of digital inputs. The problem is that no portable minidisc recorders have a digital output.
You can get rack-mountable minidisc recorders that do have digital output. Sony makes a very nice one. However, for the price of one of these you could buy a CD recorder or a hard-disk recorder.
