Playing the Boosey Eb tuba was impossible for me. Even after 7 years of trying, when I had to use the 4th valve I stepped all over myself. I sold the tuba, even though I loved everything else about it. Years later I found out and got treated for it.

The reason you are having difficulty with the left-hand fourth valve is a sensory problem which can be fixed. If you also have to think about which way is right or left when giving directions, you are probably diagnosed with whateverthenameofitis.

I had it and it can be fixed. Contact an Occupational Therapist. It's a simple procedure and can be cured in a couple of sessions. I am not joking, this can be fixed! You will need someone who is a certified Occupational Therapist with a state license or a national license (OTR).

Let me know how it goes for you, if you decide to follow through. It's cheaper than buying a new horn. Good luck.
