I use the Sony MZ-N707 purchased new in box from that auction site for 172.00 and the Sony ECM-MS907 purchased new in box from that auction site also for 73.00. I have found placing the unit an microphone in the back of the group that I play with that the sound is great. There is no overdriving of the limiter on the unit and even the clarinet who is a good 5 to 10 feet away from the microphone is picked up crystal clear. As for transferring the mini disc back to CD the only way to do it is through the headphone out jack to the line in on your sound card. I use a program called Sound Forge (CompUSA $15.00) to transfer the tracks to wav files. If you have the bucks I'd recommend getting a unit with the optical output jack. This would give you the option of using a converter cable back to your USB port and keeping the tracks digital.
