Well, I had found several articles, and posted after reading the 'official' story. I eventually found documentation that the 'Reveille had recently died' part is not true. Apparently there are accounts of this story that concoct insults to war dead, burning of flags, and the aforementioned dog's tale. Apologies for unwittingly helping to spread the myth.
