Well, I've never publically performed on a brass instrument, but I assume it's the basic concept for any musical performance. I generally try not to eat before playing any instruments because carbohydrates or sugars on the inside of the instrument corrode the metal, and that's just not good. I don't know if it applies the same for tuba, maybe it's not significant enough, but that's REALLY not good for my flute or piccolo. Probably would rot the wood of my clarinet too... Also if I'm doing any vocals, I don't eat any dairy products that day because it coats your vocal chords. Other than that, it's probably not comfortable to sit in rehearsal after a big meal and such, but I don't have any particular rituals besides ice cream after the concert!
