If there is a perfect F tuba for quintet, it would be the Yamaha 822. But I think what you have is great for both quintet and solo, as well as the Mirafone 181 since they both have some fatness to its sound. If you can't get quiet with both of those, you probably need to work on your softer dynamic playing.

But if you mean too loud from the F tuba's directness in sound, then probably you would want a bigger horn like the 822, or just play on a smaller C tuba (which is my preference). I found out when I tried out my F tuba in quintet that I can play "quieter" easier on my C (PT-3) compared to the F (PT-10).

So give the 822 a try. But I think the MW45's lower register's good enough that you don't need a different horn to work on your softer dynamics.
