We agree. My point in raising the different pitch systems was to refute the notion that we need to undertake extraordinary measures to make a tuba that centers the needle on a Korg tuner up and down the scale. That's too narrow a definition of acceptable pitches, it seems to me, and how we approach intonation differs as we move from situation to situation. By "extraordinary," I mean measures that overlook other requirements, such as sound, flexibility, clarity, and so on.
