One thing I've noticed with Nirschl valves and slides is that they have a much tighter fit than most of us are used to having. I have a Nirschl valve set on one of my horns and at first I had all sorts of problems with sticking. I started trying different valve oils, paying particular attention to the viscosity. Now with the right oil, this horn has the best valves of my three regular players.
