While wrapping presents last night, I took a moment to check the new mouthpiece that Santa brought one of my sons (the trombone player). And a good thing it was, too!
The mouthpiece came complete with slime left over from a previous user, and rather obvious markings on the shank indicating previous use.
It cleaned up OK - but one of our favorite mail order houses (which shall go nameless, as my Christmas present to them) has dropped several notches on my list.
My questions are: is this common? Are my standards too high? Is it really so hard to clean a mouthpiece when restocking?
