I think that the MW 30/32 is a very good choice (I have played a MW 32 since the mid 80's). It is a good general purpose tuba (quintet to orchestra) that is well made. In my experience, these tubas tend to have a dark and centered. I like the intonnation of the MW 30/32. I also like the way that the slides are positioned. My only suggestion is, get a MW 32 (5 valve version) if possible. I think that the fifth valve adds to the preformance of a tuba (in a positive way).

As to the height and weight of this tuba. It is roughly the size of a Miraphone 186. It is a heavier tuba (but not insanely) than alot of 4/4s (the brass is thick). I think that the heavy brass is at least one reason for the dark sound that this tuba produces.
