Best HS band in the county, but the parts are not challenging?
Is there a community college band around?
That might give you the technical challenge you need.
Do you have a private teacher now??? GET ONE if you don't.
Sit to the left of the school's bass horn players,
as tubas go THEIRS are the ones that point the wrong way anyway.
You gotta make SOME decision here. BBS folks here will give you
all the empathy you need, but ultimately this sounds like a "life-lesson"
along the lines of :
"Never play draw poker if you cannot decide
which cards to keep and which to discard"
