I would suggest the Audio-Technica AT822 microphone. I'm using one this week, with a mini-disk recorder, to record the FIU Tuba Ensemble for our ITEC quartet competition submission. This setup works great! If there is a downside, it is that I haven't figured out yet how to transfer data from the mini-disk to my computer so that I can write it onto a CD or make copies. I'm new to mini-disks so I'm sure there must be a way but I still need to figure that out. The AT822 is a really great microphone, and mine works really well with the Sony mini-disk I have. I bought my brand new microphone on eBay for a fraction of the MSRP. If you search and are patient, you can find a good deal. Good luck!

My opinion for what it's worth...
