One could make a very good double tuba that had two bells. A small one for the high tuba and a large one for the CC tuba. However, it would make more sense from the standpoint of intonation to have them in F# and CC or F and BB natural. There would be one switch valve and three compensating valves for the low side and three larger bore compensating valves for the high side. Since one would never have to use a 123 combination, proper lengths of tubing would be available for all notes. Also since the instruments would not have to share the same bell the intonation of the open tones could be made very well.
