There is a guy near me who plays in the same band as I do that has both versions (long and short stroke) with detachable bells. The short stroke is in yellow brass and the long stroke is in red brass (!!!). I convinced him to stick an upright bell on the short action (he has at least 2 2Xj's with upright bells), and that horn is just about the perfect "orchestral" BBb. The red brass long stroke has a red brass bell that is a recording bell and they look too pretty together to separate. I personally like the feel of the short stroke front action the best. Not to mention all of these horns are in immaculate condition. Maybe one day I can convince him to sell me one of those old Conn's.

BTW This person has a cellar full (circa 30) of horns. Even rare ones like 4 valve york Eb's, but a nicer guy couldn't be as lucky to own these horns!
