I tried a rotary Gronitz at the convention and it was okay, but nothing special. The Hirsbrunner felt pretty smooth, but I felt the sound didn't open up enough. Nevertheless, each person has different preferences for different horns, and I'd suggest you try the Hirsbrunner as well as the Walter Nirschl and a new Miraphone 181 (preferably yellow or gold brass).
