Erik, the trombones used to play on the hill at sunset. All of us would gather at the old recital hall and listen as the sound rolled down the hills. The bottom was always present, but what a blend!! Nothing like hearing 30 trombone players play the 2nd Movement of the Flor Peters or "Dream Prayer and Pantomime". I know it sounds sappy, but it is one the most endearing memories of life. It seemed like time stood still. People will listen quietly for an hour. The sound is probably still resounding through the hills of Western NC to this day.
