Joe,
My mother cleared it up for me today.
When my grandfather played one for the Newmarket Citizen's Band, it was always referred to as a Baritone.
When my uncle played one in the Navy (Royal Canadian, that is), it could ONLY be called a Euphonium.
The current line up in the Newmarket Citizen's consists of an ex- Canadian army tank gunner (who was 21 when he landed on Juno Beach with the Armored Corps) playing Baritone and an ex- Royal Navy type who plays Euphonium. Too Simple.
The only question is to ask what they call it in the Marine Corps.
