If you want to hear some really precise and powerful playing check out anything from a championship section brass band (such as Grimethorpe colliery, Black Dyke Mills or Rolls Royce Coventry). The sheer dynamic extremes (both quiet and loud) that they produce is awesome, and you'll never hear a dotted note being "rolled" there.
