besson/boosey & hawkes euphs of this period are generally of v. good build quality.Factory was still using well trained assembly staff real craftsmen.I'm unsure at what date production went from using plated valves to monel valves but monel are better.Euphs of this period are the smaller bore/bell imperial or new standard models. My personal preference is for the early sovereigns (early 1970's onwards)bigger bell ,more open sound.in recent years more and more of the reinfocing plates seem to have dissappeared only to be reintroduced on the new and expensive prestige range.Tuning on most is good you may need to work with 1/3 finering on top f (concert pitch)instead of open.Top Bb better with !st on some euphs.Triggers can be retro fitted by good repairers.I'm still playing a sovereign i bought new in 1979.A good buy.
