With the crowd singing--er--humming along!
But the shopping-mall performance of Russian Christmas Music takes the cake, for me. It was the typical overly live and and overly loud setting, with a 100-piece good-quality community band in San Antonio, playing at about 150 db in the loud bits to balance the quiet bits we'd played at fortissimo so we could hear ourselves. Shoppers were running past our group, hands over their ears, tears streaming down their faces. We weren't invited back the next year.
