Yes, there are. Many people I've seen use different posistions for their mouthpieces. An off-center posistion is quite common due to the fact that most lead pipes are angled which sometimes causes us to more of one side than the other. If you can make it work, and make it work well, do it, but I would suggest trying other ways for a time just to see how or if they work. Everyone's different, so we have to trust what works for us. As far as comfort goes, take AJ's advice and "play by sound and not by feel." It really does work.
