I have a question about John Fletcher's performance, if you recall listening to it.

In his performance on the recording, in the movement that has the "swing" sort of stuff written, do you recall whether he played those figures (either rhythmically and/or interpretively) as a "classical" musician would, or as a "jazz" musician would?

I haven't heard the late Mr. Fletcher's recording. The only one that I have ever heard is one that came with an advertisement for the sheet music (a good player on that "promo" recording - English) when it was first published. A band director friend had it in his collection.

I'm sure that if I decide to play this piece, I will by that recording, but I was just curious about that particular section of the piece, for now.

The reason that I am curious is that I am considering doing it with a band this year, and am trying to decide whether to do this piece or to drag out the old V.W.
