I agree with those who suggest recordings for him to listen to. There are lots of CDs that offer solos or ensembles that even someone that young would enjoy. The Canadian Brass have music he would probably like to listen to (he might even be able to sit through a concert) because of their humorous style and variety of music. If they have a Christmas concert in your area this time of year, you might want to take him to it--he would definitely enjoy it.
