After reading the thread below, a question occured to me. How does one care for an unlaquered instrument? My piggy has some worn areas on the laquer, most notably on the 1st valve slide. When I wash my hands after playing, the brass visibly washes off of my hands. Also, if I'm not careful, the brass really does nothing for the looks of the clothes I'm wearing at the time. Knowing the propensity of unprotected metals to tarnish, it seems that just the act of blowing warm, moist air through the horn would eventually deteriorate the metal.
