I have 2 Yamaha F tubas (822S, 641S) and a Euphonium (321S). I have also owned and played an Eb (321S) and IT was also an excellent. I have found them superior instruments and VERY consistant from sample to sample. They may all play a little differently, but all are excellent; I have never played a BAD one. As for the low pitched instruments (BBb's, CC's), I think the 822 CC is as good as anything out there. I have never played the CC rotary valve. The small BBb's are good student horns but I hjave trouble playing the 3-valver in tube. The bid BBb (321) is a good, large sounding horn, but awkward to hold due to its size. My women students have trouble getting comfortable with this instrument. But I DO like its sound. In conclusion, if you like the sound the particular model you are looking at makes, then you can't go wrong with the Yamaslammers. Hope this helps.
