I totally agree on the fingering thing. I don't think it's a very good argument, but I've heard some people that are so convinced of it that it must be a good enough reason for me to accept it too :). I know that a lot of Prokofiev pieces lay better on BBb fingering-wise.

Speaking of trumpets to use...Roger Bobo told me a story once about a trumpet player in LA (I think his name is Don Green). They played Capriccio Italien by Tchaikovsky, and the trumpet solo (played by Green) was BRILLIANT!!! Even better than when he had heard Vacchiano play it with New York. Roger told him after the concert how good it sounded. The guy then showed him what he used...a Db trumpet! He had made it himself and it worked perfectly for this one passage. Now THAT'S picking the right instrument for the job!
