Just an observation... See all the mention of Eb tubas on this list? It wasn't that long ago that you couldn't get any response but "Oh yeah, isn't that what trumpet players use when they have to play tuba?'.

A couple of months ago, I had a HS tuba student tell me "Eb tubas for wimps" (I loaned her my Pat Sheridan CDs to disabuse her of that notion).

Tuba keys and sizes go in and out fashion. Right now, huge CC tubas are in fashion in the USA. That could change.

My personal take is that one of the big differences between BBb and CC is that most CC tubas are made with 5 valves and so have a bit more flexibility when it comes to matters of intonation. It used to be that CC tubas were generally better made than BBb, but that's not as true today. You can buy a great Hirsbrunner or WIllson or Rudi Meinl in BBb or CC.
