What would Arnold say about this, or Augustus Helleburg or Bill Bell or that great Tuba player nobody ever heard of. My opion is price, performance, practicallity and practice all go into the mix no matter what horn you play. If a college level teacher is willing to disregard any student because they don't play a CC horn, that just means he can't or won't teach us guys who play the "AA horns". You know AA, because we tune to the Oboe's "A" in orchestra ( isn't that just so rediculess ). If you want to use a "Qb" horn and you can get people to pay you to play it, what does it matter what laws of physics you have to break to do it. Some rigs just get the job done better than other's (RIG is my term for Horn / Mouthpiece combo. If most Orchestra players seem to use a CC horns for that purpose then chances are that a CC horn will probably get you that particular job. On the other hand you don't see too many four valved CC Sousaphones around, or for that matter GG bugles in Concert Band. Why is that any way? Go with what works for you! If you want apples go to the apple tree and so on......Blah blah blah. There is alot more to this discusion but it would take to long ..................
