I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but here goes...
A model S186 IS marketed as a student model (S). The main difference is the absence of the nickel plating on the valve slides, bell ring, braces and possibly other cosmetic differences. You CAN upgrade the S model to nickel plating, but then you're essentially getting the "Pro" model anyway. It is otherwise, the same as the "pro" or regular 186-4U.
