TUBA Journal Vol. 26, Spring '99 has a big article about Sousaphones. On the cover is a picture of a "Raincatcher", a Conn made in 1904. There are a couple other pictures of these horns in the article. The oldest one pictured is from 1898 made by H.N White/ King.
If you can find a T.U.B.A. member nearby s/he should have it.
