I will comment as someone who will soon defend my dissertation for a Ph.D. in
Experimental Psychology (behavioral neuroscience). In my opinion, the arts allow us to connect with and express our emotions as directly as possible. Music was my first carreer and music is more important to me now that I have been involved in scientific research for some years. It is also interesting (at least to me) that there are many people involved in science that are musicians.
