I realize the original question was geared towards people who have actually owned either horn, but as someone who has heard a good number of people playing on Yamaha's big F and others on the B&S I would say that the B&S has always had a more colorful sound. The Yamaha players did seem to make easier use of the lower pitches, but the sound seems duller than on the B&S's. These are observations of hearing people in solo settings. Something I would like to hear is the Yamaha in a larger orchestral ensemble. I am curious as to if the sound could carry like the B&S?
