If you don't want to pay a premium for Yamaha oils, you could use the same approach with a good valve oil (I use Blue Juice) and a light weight household oil (I use 3-in-1 Oil). I particularly like Blue Juice, it is a very fast oil and lasts a long time. It also is a detergent oil and I find my valves don't have to be cleaned hardly at all (maybe once every year or two). And remember that the valves are one of the most sensitive parts of your tuba. They can be severely damaged in a number of ways so, unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure of what you're doing, always have a qualified brass repairman do any repairs or modifications to your valves. Enjoy your new purchase!
