Both of my middle school aged kids have decided this year that it is indeed "uncool"
it's a shame because they both had enjoyed playing at one time. My daughter seemed to
have a modicum of talent, but other interests and the limited amount of elective courses
she is allowed to take and the vast variety of courses offered has led her down other paths. I think when there are too many choices it becomes difficult and the kids never
stick with anything over the long haul. It pains me a little because as I recall band
just got better and better as I progressed. I was also a jock at the same time, but
music always provided me with the better and brighter friends.
