Every society gets what it deserves. If the priority target over all is generating a maximum of profit with no regard to anything else, even by appealing to primitive evolution instincts, don't expect any favoring of idealistic traditions, movements, or superior culture in general. New technologies have been accelerating this trend dramatically lately. You can't make money with a band anymore, but you can make millions with sports (evolution principle), junk music (back to the roots of drum beats - just in form of electronic sophisticated technology) for the mass of systematically misguided young generations over decades of years by the greedy music industry, junk food, junk TV etc. etc.
My forecast of the next 30 years: Bands will have disappeared completely, the mass of people will communicate just by computers, listen to "music"(?) made by computers, watch TV desaster shows, and a small niche of some exclusive orchestras for a minority of "exotic" educated enthusiasts will survive only.
